Hi
I tried using VOX as the PTT for digital soundcard modes but that doesn't seem to work. That would be a neat feature addition as I do have a second soundcard in the PC dedicated for HAM digital modes, so no windows sound will trip the VOX. I was using a signalink SL1+ before that basically activated PTT when detecting audio out of the PC. So Wayne please add it to the todo list ;-) 73 de K6TE Wim ____________________________________________________________________________________ Looking for last minute shopping deals? I'd rather not see this on the todo list. I feel the PTT on the DB9 is
more than ample and will prevent many others from sending many windows sounds over the air. Most software will key a rig over CAT commands and this is the way this should be done. Haven't tried it in a while, but the intent is that it work. 73, Lyle KK7P _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Hi Wim,
VOX as PTT for DATA-A -mode works just fine, at least here with my K3 #310. Please check your VOX GN setting in menu and make sure that VOX ( holding the band-down button ) is set to VOX an not to PTT. Also try adjusting the LINE -setting ( speed/mic knob set to MIC selected ) It should work.. BR, Kari

This is what your feel is best for you. However, my PTT line is dedicated to my RTTY TNC. I would have to remove it or switch it out for sound card modes. Sound card digital modes here are only to chase a rare one that doesn't show up on other modes. Having VOX activated transmit is simple and what I use.
If by "software" PTT you mean a command (rather than a line on some cable) that activates xmit, yes that a super way. However, it isn't supported by quite a few rigs. I had it with an FT1000MP and it worked great. My current rig doesn't have it. Does the K3? I hope they don't eliminate this VOX capability. Yes there are drawbacks -- like I have to turn of the DX spot announce function of spotting program! Counting the days (well months really) till the K3 arrives. 73 de Brian/K3KO
