I installed the utility and installed what I think is the driver via CDM c2.08.30 WHQL Certified.exe
I connected the KUSB cable to the K3’s RS232 port. I started the utility and selected COM3 as it was the only choice. The utility cannot find the K3. What am I missing? Carl Yaffey K8NU Banjo, guitar, bass, mandolin, dobro. recording studio. check the utility baud rate is set correctly to match the k3's baud rate

Assuming Windows, what does device manager say about the port? No other program is using the port, right? Have you tried a reboot of the puter? Is the DB9 firmly attached to the K3? When you plugged the USB cable into the 'puter did Windows recognize it?
That's all I got.... 73 Mike NF4L On Feb 4, 2014, at 4:06 PM, Carl Yaffey <[hidden email]> wrote: > I installed the utility and installed what I think is the driver via CDM c2.08.30 WHQL Certified.exe > I connected the KUSB cable to the K3’s RS232 port. I think the k3 Utility will match whatever the K3 is set to. AFAIR, it cycles thru all the baud rates.

That's correct.
Some of our utilities operate at only speed supported. (XG3, K144XV, and W2). When the radio, amp, ATU or panadapter offers several choices, we find the RS-232 speed as you have indicated. 73 de Dick K6KR -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Mike Reublin Sent: Tuesday, February 04, 2014 1:26 PM To: Elecraft Reflector Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3 utility help I think the k3 Utility will match whatever the K3 is set to. Mike,
That may be true, but if the P3 is in place, the K3 rate must be set to 38,400 or some things will not work together. I don't know whether a P3 is involved in the original post or not. 73, Don W3FPR On 2/4/2014 4:25 PM, Mike Reublin wrote: > I think the k3 Utility will match whatever the K3 is set to. True, Don and good point. But the utility still does the seek. It's not possible to match the utility and K3 manually.
