I have K3 S/N 740 and reasonably current firmware (late 2009). As it
happens, I used the K3 for the first time on 80m last night during the CWT mini-event. During the appx. 20 minutes I was on 80m, I heard several VERY LOUD pops. They weren't sustained but were dangerously loud. The first few occurred with headphones on. I resorted to speaker operation after that. This has never happened on 40 or 30m where I have principally been operating with the K3. Is this a known problem? Am I missing a firmware update? This was not nice at all. -- 73 Allan K7GT ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
1. If AGC was used, do you have CONFIG: AGC PLS = nor? 2. If AGC was not used, do you have CONFIG: AF LIM = 18-20? 73, Bill |

Without wanting to start a thread on this subject, I want to say that I can't see any reason not to always load the latest beta release. As a field tester I always load the latest pre-beta code as soon as Wayne and Lyle make it available, and I've /never/ been seriously 'burned'. Each new version contains fixes for problems and new features -- and it's easy to go back to an earlier release if you wish. -- Vic, K2VCO Fresno CA http://www.qsl.net/k2vco/ ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Just did a version check on the _ftp.elecraft_ (ftp://ftp.elecraft) site
and it says the current versions for the K3 are MCU 3.76, FPF 1.07 and DSP 2.52 Not sure why the version differences but I think I did see 3.78 and 2.54 Betas released. 73, Mike N9QR In a message dated 3/11/2010 11:50:33 A.M.
