Have a newly refurb'ed SB200 that I want to run with my K3. But not sure how
to proceed. If anyone is running an SB200 with their K3, I would appreciate any tips, especially about the ALC and PTT lines. Thanks 73, Ron, K5HM [hidden email] www.qrz.com/db/k5hm ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

So it is like a new Heath SB 200 ?? then you will have to change the PTT line and I would suggest http://harbachelectronics.com/ I did all the mods to one I picked up and it works great,,,, run maybe 70 watts or so into it,,, if you have the manual check on the drive recommendations,,, the amp is a great old work horse,,,, the harbach mods are great and EZ to build consider changing it to 220 Bob K3DJC On Sat, 20 Apr 2013 15:49:45 -0500 "K5HM" <[hidden email]> writes: > Have a newly refurb'ed SB200 that I want to run with my K3. All,
Thanks for all the tips. I've installed the Harback mofd in the amp, including the softkey. Looks like from what you all say, I don't need to worry about the ALC. Smoke test tomorrow. Tnx. 73, Ron, K5HM [hidden email] www.qrz.com/db/k5hm -----Original Message----- From: Don Wilhelm [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Saturday, April 20, 2013 4:33 PM To: K5HM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3 with Heathkit SB200 Ron, Unless the SB200 has been modified to use positive voltage for PTT, you will need some sort of interface (like a relay) in the PTT line. The SB200 uses slow open frame relays for T/R switching, so it is not suitable for QSK operation, so use PTT in the K3 to allow the realys time to switch - or get a QSK add-on mod for the amplifier. As for the ALC, the best recommendation is to not connect it. Adjust the output of the K3 to properly drive the SB200 and there is no need for ALC. 73, Don W3FPR On 4/20/2013 4:49 PM, K5HM wrote: > Have a newly refurb'ed SB200 that I want to run with my K3.
