Can an SDR, such as a SDRPlay RSP1A, be connected to the RX OUT jack on the K3S instead of using the IF OUT (on the radio or the P3)?

There's no reason why you can't do this.
You would however have to be very careful that the SDRPlay is isolated when you transmit. Not just removing power to it, but also grounding the SDRPlay input. This is not because there's any issue with the K3, but because you can still set up a high energy field that can destroy the SDRPlay. 73, Alan. Yes, RX out is after the K3/K3S TR Switch and LPF. You will need to turn on the RX ANT function. RX Out should be connected to to a splitter with one output of the splitter going to the RSP1A (or other SDR) and the other output of the splitter going to the RX IN. A properly designed splitter prevents either receiver from "loading" the other (excessive signal reduction) as well as preventing any spurious products from one receiver being fed into the other. 73, ... While the K3 RX input does provide a well matched 50 ohm load to the

receiver, available via the USB connector? This would be highly desirable with the digital mode, being able to monitor the MSK 144 and FT8 frequencies on 6 at the same time. You can do this with K3 or K3S with a sub-receiver, but you
don't need the sub-receiver with the K4 because it can monitor 2 6M frequencies with just basic K4, you can get the digital audio stream through the USB connection or through the audio connection on the back panel. The left channel will be VFO A and the right channel will be VFO B. Using the USB connection means you don't need a "sound card" to digitize the audio. Yes. This can be done even with a basic K4, since it has independent left and right receive channels pertaining to VFO A (main) and B (sub). A K4D would give you the ability to use different antennas for the two receivers. It also optimizes performance when the two receivers are on different bands since it includes a second set of band-pass filters, preamps, and attenuators.
