It seems my KAT100 is reducing power output on 10, 12 and 15 meters when in line:
w/tuner w/o tuner 10 75w 85 12 80 95 15 85 90 I have tested the short coax jumper between the rig and tuner and it is fine. Do I neede to redo the power calibration of R3/R4? Could this be off and shutting down the power? Why just on the upper bands? As always thanks to all for any help! 73 Bill NZ0T |

Was it something I said? Dumb question or is the problem something obvious I should know? Any help appreciated!

Hi Bill. I don't have the KAT100, but those values look typical for
antenna tuners that are internal to a rig. Because of size constraints, they tend to be a bit lossier than external tuners, although all tuners have some loss, which varies with band. I prefer external tuners for the simple reasons that they can be heftier (handle 1500W), can be used with all the rigs in the shack, can be used with or without the amplifier on and can be placed after the wattmeter, which is the best place for them. Internal tuners are great for portable operation, although I didn't get one this time because I use a K2 for remote ops. 73, Larry N8LP Date: Thu, 23 Oct 2008 17:44:00 -0700 (PDT) From: NZ0T <[hidden email]> Subject: Re: [Elecraft] KAT100 affecting power output To: [hidden email] Message-ID: <[hidden email]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Was it something I said?
