When I hit the ATU TUNE button this evening the tuner sounded like it was
doing something but instead of the usual display of VSWR as it tuned there were only two dash lines. The problem is not band dependent. Anyone ever seen this before and if so what was the cure? Thanks. Barry,
I had the same thing here a few weeks ago. I found that I had no output from my LPA board. It is now at Elecraft being serviced but I have yet to hear the final resolution. It has only been in service for a week or so. I used a scope and did some signal tracing and found that I had RF on the input of the LPA board and a logical HI on the 7T line. But I had no output from the LPA itself. I worked with support and we determined that something was probably wrong with the board itself. I removed it and sent it in. I found this doing the same thing - tuning up and only had two dashes on my display. Hope this helps. 73, Dave W8FGU On 7/7/2012 1:53 AM, Barry Garratt wrote: > When I hit the ATU TUNE button this evening the tuner sounded like it was > doing something but instead of the usual display of VSWR as it tuned there > were only two dash lines. > > The problem is not band dependent. > > Anyone ever seen this before and if so what was the cure? > > Thanks. > > Barry KS7DX > > > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
BTW - some of the obvious things to check first would be to insure you
aren't in test mode or that the TX INH pin is not set or floating (check in the Config menu). 73, Dave W8FGU On 7/7/2012 9:01 AM, Dave Van Wallaghen wrote: > Barry, > > I had the same thing here a few weeks ago. Hey Barry,
If you are so inclined, you might try re-seating the LPA board. I did read a couple of instances where that cleared up the problem. Although, it did not clear mine up :-( Either way, it you wouldn't mind, please post back your findings. I'd be interested to see if it was the LPA or not. Gary,
If I were you I'd call Elecraft support before sending the board. They may give you some tests to make to determine if you have the same problem as Dave. 73, Tom Amateur Radio Operator N5GE ARRL Lifetime Member QCWA Lifetime Member On Sat, 7 Jul 2012 09:47:09 -0700, "Barry Garratt" <[hidden email]> wrote: >Hey Dave, > >I'll try that and report back but I'm getting the feeling it's going to back >to the factory. > >Regards, > >Barry KS7DX > > >-----Original Message----- >From: Dave Van Wallaghen [mailto:[hidden email]] >Sent: Saturday, July 07, 2012 9:15 AM >To: Barry Garratt >Cc: [hidden email] >Subject: Re: [Elecraft] KAT3 problem > >Hey Barry, > >If you are so inclined, you might try re-seating the LPA board. Besides, you should *never* just send an Elecraft radio to Watsonville
for repair. There are repair depots all over the globe. Contact support, and if warranted, they will request an RSA number for you. When you get the email with the RSA form, fill it out and read the 2nd page to find out where to send it. 73, Don W3FPR On 7/7/2012 5:12 PM, N5GE wrote: > Gary, > > If I were you I'd call Elecraft support before sending the board.
