KAT500/K3 position

Mike Murray-4
I'm rearranging the station and considering putting the KAT500 on top of my
K3.  Will the clearance be adequate for proper cooling airflow thru the K3?

Mike - W0AG

Mike,

That should work just fine.  Most folks would put the KAT500 on top of
the KPA500, but on top of the K3 will work OK too.

Mike,

I've had mine positioned that way for the last 4-1/2 years, with the radio
powered up about 18 hours a day every day. Never had any kind of problem.

I wouldn't, and don't, put the KAT500 on top of the KPA500.  Mine is underneath
the amp.  I've given consideration to building an aux box with the same
footprint and height as the KAT500 to hold an SDR-IQ and other stuff (KRC2
maybe) and have it under the K3S.

Thanks to all who responded!  Since I'm not really a heavy user, I'll try
the tuner on top of the K3 and go from there.  If any problems develop it
won't be a major problem to move it underneath.

Thanks again.
