KAT500 Kit Builders

Phil Hystad-3
To: KAT500 Kit-Builder Guys and Elecraft too...

According to the parts inventory (as noted on page 34 of Owner's Manual) there are supplied four #4 split ring washers (as well as one #8 split ring washer).

Yet, from the assembly instructions, I count the need for FIVE #4 split ring washers and as a result I came up one short.  The five are:

       1.  page 18, figure 11 shows the use of a #4 split washer.
       2.  And, four more #4 split washers for the Jack screws as described on page 25, figure 22.

Luckily, the spare parts bag has an extra couple of #4 split ring washers but I think that either I am wrong somewhere in my above description or the inventory parts accounting needs to be updated.

I also had an extra star washer left over. I wonder if the spit washer on page 18 was supposed to be a star washer?
Also on screw hole on the front panel had no tape and was painted black. No big deal. I scraped the paint off around the hole.

I found the same. The screw in Figure 11 on page 18 is just filling an
empty hole, so I don't suppose it matters much which kind of washer is
used for it, and there's nowhere else to use the internal tooth washer
that was supplied.

Also, based on the parts supplied, the four 4-40 screws for the
through-board standoffs in figure 26 are apparently supposed to be 3/16"
(4.8 mm) screws, not 1/4" (6.4 mm) screws as stated in the figure.
