I know the KAT500 Assembly Manual is under field review. But since a
number of factory assembled KAT500's have already been shipped, there must be an Owner's Manual to go with them! Will it be posted on the Web Site? 73 Richard - HB9ANM ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

I check the web site almost everyday for news or the manual, nothing yet.
I am waiting on my KAT500 kit, I ordered later. I have taken the liberty of scanning my copy as a PDF and posting it on my
website. You will find the document (Preliminary, Rev XC, October 12, 2012) here: http://wb4son.com/wpblog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/KAT500-Prelim-Manual.pdf 73, Bob, WB4SON ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Phil,
Heck, if you have something in draft form, that you are apparently willing to disseminate, why not just post it in the files section and mark it clearly as a "preliminary draft"??? Magic. The cabling pages alone would have saved a load of heartburn on
the list a week or so ago. How heavy is it? Very lightweight! The shipping box was 7 pounds, and I'd guess that the
KAT weighed 5 pounds or less. It certainly isn't heavy by any stretch of the imagination. If I get a chance to unwire it, I'll put it on the scale. 73, Bob, WB4SON ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Just under 5 pounds. Mine is a pre-production version that is slightly
heavier, and it weighs 5. 73 de Dick, K6KR -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Bob Sent: Thursday, November 01, 2012 12:31 PM To: Mike Harris Cc: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] KAT500 Owner's Manual? Hi,
It beats me why Elecraft thinks the preliminary manual is good enough to ship to users who actually need accurate information but not to everybody else who would like a preview. I see that the operations procedure calls for changing the mode to AUTO. What other modes are available? The way I read it, in AUTO mode the tuner will decide to start a tune cycle when it feels like it, which I don't want. I want the tuner to only start a tune cycle when I tell it to. I have received the invoice notice for my tuner (not shipping notice) so I am looking forward to seeing my tuner in the next couple of weeks. AB2TC - Knut

Manual mode does exactly what you want. Press manual, transmit, and then
the tuner will tune. We're printing the new manual right now and it will be up on the web as soon as it is shipping with the KAT500s.
