KAT500 poer off
K3 Power OFF P/s's all off. P/S all on See and Hear KAT500 receive the P/S 12v Push-on the K3 See "ERR PTT" scrolling on K3 and K3 TX LED is on. can't figure it out. Have tried CONFIG"PTT to no avail and dunno where to leave it anyway. Use also the Tigertronics SignaLink-USB for a year now, fwiw. Was all functioning. About two weeks ago the KAT500 cable to K3 chain was likely disconnected as I was making major back-end cabling configs to the transverters. And I remained off HF that long. Bob,
Somehow, somewhere, either the key or paddle or PTT is closed - at least the K3 thinks that is true. You might first check visually to see if you can find the culprit. If not --- Remove the mic, key, paddles and your interface from the K3 - then with K3 power on, plug them in one at a time. If any of them cause the K3 to go into transmit, you have found the offending one. 73, Don W3FPR On 1/14/2014 1:07 PM, Bob KD7YZ wrote: > KAT500 poer off > K3 Power OFF > P/s's all off. > P/S all on > See and Hear KAT500 receive the P/S 12v > Push-on the K3 > > See "ERR PTT" scrolling on K3 and K3 TX LED is on. > > can't figure it out. I seem to have found that connecting the supplied RCA-Fono cable from K3:PTT-OUT to KAT500 PTT (maybe Inhibit?) allows correct turn-on sequence w/o K3 Xmit. Haven't remembered how I had the K3 Config:PTT sett ...PTT OFF-OFF or otherwise Because when computer boots, the rig keys, and K3 is not in "VOX" -- Bob KD7YZ http://www.qrz.com/db/KD7YZ www.denstarfarm.us/LGD ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Bob;
Check the K3-KPA500 AUX cable. It is possible that one of the pins is bent and is not touching another pin (or the shell), causing the problem. If so, try to carefully straighten the pin so as not to break it, although most likely you would need to replace the cable. Oops. Delete that first not. It is possible the pin IS touching another pin…
