I've got the LDG AT-600Pro. It does what I need it to do, but it's
awfully noisy when it cannot recall a setting from memory. How much noise does the KAT500 make? 73 Jon LA4RT ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I would doubt anything could be as bad as bad as the LDG's. I had a new 1000
Pro and it sounded like you were shaking a gallon can with 2 dozen marbles in it unloaded 2 weeks after I bought it. Don't know about the Elecraft but my Palstar HF-Auto and the Alpha 4040 Auto Tuner I have on order all have the stepper motors and they are quiet. My KAT100 is quiet so I expect the 500 to be the same. 73, Fred/N0AZZ -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Jon K Hellan Sent: Friday, November 02, 2012 6:02 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] KAT500 how noisy? It's louder than the K3 Auto Tuner, but once it has the frequency in memory there will be only one click. My approach was to run through all of my normal frequencies tuning at 20 watts. After doing that it tunes all of them with one click. *Fred,
I hear the relays clattering BUT nowhere near as loud as the LDG product and this is only during a full tune. Once the bands have been swept initially, you only here a click on key up as the kat500 selects a memory bin.
