Hello all
I'm really pleased with the KDVR3 option which I installed yesterday. It will be a great help for "CQ Contest" on a quiet band or when my voice needs a rest. I will have repeat set to 3 or 4 seconds and just sit back and wait for the calls to roll in ! However, there is one snag. When I do get a reply, I have to remember to cancel the DVR function by pressing - as the manual says - any switch besides M1 to M4. But - hitting the microphone ptt seems to be the one switch that does not cancel the DVR. My thinking is that this would be a sensible inclusion. Have I missed something in the set-up ? I've noticed the very same thing - PTT activation does not stop the DVR.
Also, when you program a loop delay time, the message will not repeat indefinitely, it stops after 5 or 6 repetitions - seems like it should repeat forever until you interrupt it??? |

Hi John,
Thanks for the report. This will be corrected in a future firmware revision. 73, Wayne N6KR On Jan 8, 2009, at 1:04 AM, John Lemay wrote: > When I do get a reply, I have to remember to > cancel the DVR function by pressing - as the manual says - any switch > besides M1 to M4. Yea - there goes that great responsiveness again - I just love Elecraft.

I too love the KDVR3 but I am still curious about the high level of drive the ALC indicator shows. Are you noticing this? Is it an issue? Is there a drive level adjustment accessible or is it set. I have received no audio playback complaints but the modulation seems overdone and does not vary the ALC output. It stays at max (about 7).

No problem here, it repeats continuously until I get very bored with the sound of my own voice calling CQ ! Actually, I wonder if there should be a limit, either defined for us or programmable - just in case one goes to sleep .......... And here's a further thought - should tuning of VFO A be disabled while a repeat message is in use (during the rx part of the cycle I mean) ? Re ALC (and compression). If I were pushed, I might say there was sometimes one more segment of the indicator lighting up during playback. That's all and I'm not concerned. After a re-check of the DVR, I am able to continuously play a loop delay message. Not sure why it wasn't working before - it would stop after 5 or 6 cycles but appears to be fine now. I noticed that Wayne made some mention about PC programs that were polling the radio and causing the DVR to stop so I wonder if I was running my logging program at the time? I just don't recall... I don't think I'd want VFO A lockout during the rx cycle on a looped message as I may want to adjust up or down a bit between transmissions.
