I have posted on www.ke7x.com a change note for "The Elecraft K3:
Design, Configuration, and Operation" that describes the new L-MIX-R audio mix choices and how to program a function key to change from one to another. 73, Fred, KE7X Fred Cady fcady at ieee dot org www.ke7x.com ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Thanks, Fred.
This begs the question- for those of us who purchased the PDF version, is there any mechanism for obtaining an updated file as revisions are released? It's easy enough to write in the margins of a paper edition, but not so with the PDF. 73, Bruce, N1RX ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

OK, this is really working out for me! I have the spiral-bound version which lays flat, and I can print and tape these updates in at the back with an annotation on the relevant pages that point to the back. It's a lot to ask, but if you can keep this up for awhile, it's going to be just super! 73, Fred K6DGW - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2011 Cal QSO Party 1-2 Oct 2011 - www.cqp.org ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Working out very nicely for me too!
I use Preview (a built in program in OSX) to open the PDF manual, open the updates, drag them to the appropriate part of the manual in the sidebar and I'm golden! If I feel the need I can also put a sticky note in the PDF in the appropriate parts of the manual. Nice! Now if I can just find the time to work my way though the book! The Elecraft_k3_ver2o.pdf security setting prevents posting comments and
sticky-notes using Windows 7 and Adobe Reader X. Is there a procedure to incorporate errata in the original file? Adobe Reader does just that... it reads Adobe .pdf files it can't and
was never intended to modify Adobe files. There are several free utilities and programs on the net that will allow you to modify .pdf's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PDF_software > The Elecraft_k3_ver2o.pdf security setting prevents posting comments > and sticky-notes using Windows 7 and Adobe Reader X. Hi Bruce,
The current plan is to post updates due to firmware changes and errata on the ke7x.com website. I'm going to do some research on what software is out there that will allow you to edit a pdf file to include the updates and changes. If anybody has suggestions for this, I'll collate it and post it on the website. At some point in the future I may produce another edition if there are significant changes (or to add something like the KPA500). 73, Fred Cady fcady at ieee dot org www.ke7x.com > Subject: Re: [Elecraft] KE7X K3 Book addition for firmware 4.39 > > Thanks, Fred. > > This begs the question- for those of us who purchased the PDF version, > is > there any mechanism for obtaining an updated file as revisions are > released? > > It's easy enough to write in the margins of a paper edition, but not > with > the PDF. > > 73, > Bruce, N1RX > > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Fred,
I bought the pdf version of your K3 book - very nice! I have Adobe Acrobat-8 so figure it will let me merge files for upgrading. I asked my wife to buy this a couple years ago as I decided that it would be an advantage creating pdf documents for my website (in place of .doc) and I find it also displays excel files quite nicely. I am thinking converting to a excel-based log form for posting my initials worked on eme. Current html chart is very time intensive to enter new qso records. But Acrobat is not for everyone as it costs a little. 73, Ed - KL7UW, WD2XSH/45 ====================================== BP40IQ 500 KHz - 10-GHz www.kl7uw.com EME: 50-1.1kw?, 144-1.4kw, 432-100w, 1296-60w, 3400-? With the Mac OS PrevIew app you can just drag and drop the addendum/errata pages into the PDF at the required spot.
