Thinking about remoting my K2 (currently QRP with KAT2, one
day with KPA100) via TCP/IP (e.g. with Ham Radio Deluxe), I would like to know if SWR value is available via - KIO2 serial interface? - KPA100 built-in serial interface? or do I need some external device like W1? I am going to use an external non-automatic tuner, that's why I need a monitoring of SWR - via PC because of remoting. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I'm not sure this will help for your situation, but you could determine the SWR with CAT commands. The K2 will display SWR when in TUNE. So sending SW20; to enter TUNE and then sending a DS; command to read the VFO A display will give you the current displayed SWR. David, thanks for your reply!
I gave it a try in a terminal program. After connection at 4800 baud, DS; returns the frequency SW20; enters tune mode (I changed the tune mode to CALS to have enoogh time for the following command) DS; returns a "?", although I see the SWR on K2's LCD Am I doing something wrong? My firmware is 2.04P 1.09 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

DS; may not work during transmit on the K2. My K2 is not hooked up, so I cannot test. Could someone please confirm whether DS; works during transmit on the K2. If not, this method will not work. :( David, W4SMT --- On Sat, 3/14/09, ub5_073_oleg <[hidden email]> wrote: > From: ub5_073_oleg <[hidden email]> > Subject: Re: [Elecraft] KIO2, KPA100 - is SWR value available via RS232? > To: [hidden email] > Date: Saturday, March 14, 2009, 4:14 PM > David, thanks for your reply! > > I gave it a try in a terminal program. > > After connection at 4800 baud, > DS; returns the frequency > SW20; enters tune mode (I changed the tune mode to CALS to > have enoogh time for the following command) > DS; returns a "?", although I see the SWR on > K2's LCD > > Am I doing something wrong?
