Guess this has wandered off topic yet again....:-)
II have been using the KPA-500 for 3 months I guess and I don't miss the boat anchor amplifier anymore. Before ya'all race out and buy 1500W amplifiers, improve your antennas please because in VK we hear you now, but you have not got 'your ears on'...:-)...Grin 40M is a fine example of US stations having good antenna systems and making the trip to VK without resorting to 1500W....I have worked several running 200W but using a nice Yagi at 70 feet. Oh well, the argument/debate will drag on for eternity I am sure......... 73's Gary On 23 June 2011 02:57, Phil Hystad <[hidden email]> wrote: > Yes, it would be different if everyone honored FCC rule 97.313(a). > > We should all then be giving 449 reports on contest day rather then > 5NN. All,
I know I started this thread, but it has gone way off topic. I merely was looking for why the KPA500 is technically superior to comparable, less expensive, solid state amps by other manufacturers. There has become too much discussion now on why we should or shouldn't use amps, QRP/QRO, etc. Let's kill this thread here and now so that Wayne and Erik don't have to get involved. Thank you to everyone for your input. 73, Ian Kahn, AK4IK Roswell, GA K3 #281, P3 #688 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
