KPA500 Air Flow Space Concern

W0UCE
I am rebuilding my station console and would like to put a wooden shelf
above my KPA500 but am concerned about blocking air flow to the top of the
opening on the top right of the amp.   The KPA will sit on the operating
table desktop with the front raised using the bail.  If I put a shelf over
the amp I can cut an opening for airflow space if necessary.

If anyone has experience or suggestions regarding minimum space for airflow
I would appreciate your input.  Contact offline if you prefer.

Thanks,

Jack

The KPA500 manual indicates the required clearances.

Jack,

My KPA500 is on my table top with the bail up with a shelf that is 1.25 inches
above the front of the KPA500 and there is about one inch of space on both sides
of the amp and the back of the amp is about a foot from the nearest wall and the
connections to the back of the amp all drop down below the table top.  There is
about 3.5 inches clearance between the top of the amp and the bottom of the
shelf at the rear of the amp.

It's always 75F in my shack year round.  The amp temp when idle for a few
minutes is 26C.  I leave the fan running on speed 1 all the time, so the temp
drops rapidly when I've stopped sending CW.  The top of the amp never gets warm.
