KPA500 Shines!

Roy Morris-6
After reading about the Tokyo Hi-Power HL-550FX review in the March, 2013
QST, I realize how much the KPA500 really shines.  The review states the
550FX:

1) Needs 50 to 80 watts of drive power (depending on band).
2) Protection circuit will not reset for at least 5 minutes.
3) Two SO-239 sockets on back (transceiver and antenna).
4) Rotary band switch.
5) Analog panel meter.
6) High speed mechanical relays that can keep up with full break-in in CW
QSK up to at least   35WPM.
7) $3000.00 price tag.

This is a real bargain, ain't it!!!

Yes.  For the power you cannot beat the KPA500.  I would own one, if I
didn't already own a very nice 1.5 KW amp.  I only collect radios, Elecraft,
but not amps.

Saw the review a moment ago and had the same thought. Worked JT5DX a minute ago with R5 vertical and the KPA500 @ 600W. I'm very happy with it And will buy another one for second radio in the future.

Re: KPA500 Shines!

Bill K9YEQ
Exactly.  For those who can't do beams, etc., deal with what we have, the
1.5KW does a lot.  Personally, I prefer QRPp which is my first love, and the
antennas are what I can do.  J
