I appreciated the opportunity to see the KPA500 at Visalia last weekend but
forgot to ask about the clearance required for ventilation. I have a shelf above my K3 (and soon P3) that is used to support monitors, etc. It has 7" of space under it, so I'm wondering if that's adequate to properly ventilate the KPA500. Jim,
>From the bottom of page 6 of the Preliminary N, April 6, 2011 manual that is posted: IMPORTANT: Position the amplifier so there is at least 2 inches (5 cm) clearance behind the fan and above the amplifier for proper air flow. George AI4VZ -----Original Message----- . . . . but forgot to ask about the clearance required for ventilation. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

II used to have Titan... in a cabinet and a shelf directly above it !!!!...
but on top of the titan was my antenna switching matrix panel .... behind the panel were two holes for the 3cx800s.... with flexible dryer venting taking the hot air out the side of the cabinet... ( bookshelves) ..... In my "new " shack cabinet....when finished, the air from on top & behind the ICOM & K3, as well as the kpa500 is "sucked" out the back into an enclosure on the wall of the adjacent room.,where the ACOM also is located. Then the air pumped either into the garage ( summer mode) or back into the shack room ( winter/heater mode). Not only is the enclosure and air system tight it is "sound conditioned" as not to hear the 4 muffin fans in their box or the 2300VA on line ups churning away. Figure how to have the AMP exhaust behind the monitors..... cu at Dayton.... bill At 08:17 AM 4/19/2011, Jim McDonald wrote: >I appreciated the opportunity to see the KPA500 at Visalia last weekend but >forgot to ask about the clearance required for ventilation. About 1/2 of an inch should be sufficient on top. This is an INFLOW
opening. In back at least a couple of inches for hot air flow. e On 4/19/2011 9:49 AM, Bill NY9H wrote: > II used to have Titan... in a cabinet and a shelf directly above it !!!!... > > but on top of the titan was my antenna switching matrix panel .... > behind the panel were two holes for the 3cx800s.... with flexible > dryer venting taking the hot air out the side of the cabinet...
