I have a KRC2 using the AUX bus which works OK , switching the RATPAK 5 6 remote box and showing the LED indicators of the RATPAK switch box.
I would like to be able to turn off the KRC2 to allow manual switching of the antennas - I am feeding 12vdc to the SOURCE driver terminal strip J5 in the KRC2 and if I turn off that supply , there is a diode D4 that feeds 12 vdc from the normal DC input jack on the KRC2 to the SOURCE driver Vbb so even if I turn the other 12v supply off , it stays latched on the last band . If I remove the 12 vdc feeding the microprocessor , but leave the AUX BUSS on ACC connected , the K3 freezes and will not reboot .If I remove the conection between the KRC2 and the ACC connector , then it will reboot and is normal. Is this normal AUX bus behaviour ? If so looks like I will either clip D4 - or ressurect my relay switch box to completely isolate the 7 wires from either KRC2 or the RATPAK manual switch to the remote switch box. Hi Hank,
The problem of the K3 locking up when power is removed from the KRC2 started around the time KPA500 support was added to the K3 firmware. It's "normal" in that it's "not just you", if that helps any... 73, ~iain / N6ML On Sun, Aug 11, 2013 at 8:57 PM, Pfizenmayer <[hidden email]> wrote: > I have a KRC2 using the AUX bus which works OK , switching the RATPAK 5 6 remote box and showing the LED indicators of the RATPAK switch box. Hi Hank,
I can also confirm the problem but can not speculate on when it started. I have the KRC2 and also am using using a Array Solutions 6 pack. I went this route when the KAT500 did not have enough switching. I also have the Array Solutions relay box that was part of the Ten Tec Orion setup they sold. Is that the relay box switch you refer too? Even if not you can remove D4 as you mention and apply switched 12 volts to J5 pin 3 of the KRC2 Without the 12V applied there the KRC2 is still on but can not supply source voltage to the relays. The switched 12 V goes either to the KRC or the RATPACK. It was not necessary to switch 7 wires just the supply voltage. 73, Bob K2TK On 8/12/2013 12:13 AM, iain macdonnell - N6ML wrote: > Hi Hank, > > The problem of the K3 locking up when power is removed from the KRC2 > started around the time KPA500 support was added to the K3 firmware. > It's "normal" in that it's "not just you", if that helps any... > > 73, > > ~iain / N6ML > > > On Sun, Aug 11, 2013 at 8:57 PM, Pfizenmayer <[hidden email]> wrote: >> I have a KRC2 using the AUX bus which works OK , switching the RATPAK 5 6 remote box and showing the LED indicators of the RATPAK switch box. If you are only using the High side switching from the KRC2, removing D4
will work fine for you. The low side switching will continue to function. 73, Don W3FPR On 8/11/2013 11:57 PM, Pfizenmayer wrote: > I have a KRC2 using the AUX bus which works OK , switching the RATPAK 5 6 remote box and showing the LED indicators of the RATPAK switch box.
