What does the standard DC power cable for the KX-3 look like? What type of
connectors are on each end of the cable? How long is the cable? I imagine that when you purchase the KPA100 amp and auto antenna tuner, it will come with a different DC power cable as a standard feature (similar to the K3 with Anderson power poles on one end). Does anyone know what the rear of the KPA100 looks like as far as antenna, power connections etc.? What are the H x W x D measurements; weight? Thanks for your help. No connector on the other end -- you can install your connector of choice. > I imagine that when you purchase the KPA100 amp and auto antenna > tuner, it > will come with a different DC power cable as a standard feature > (similar to > the K3 with Anderson power poles on one end). Yes. (It's KXPA100, though, not KPA100. The KPA100 was the 100-W amp for the K2.) > Does anyone know what the rear of the KPA100 looks like as far as > antenna, > power connections etc.? SO239s for rig and two antenna jacks; APP for DC; the rest still in flux but nothing exotic. > What are the H x W x D measurements; weight? Roughly 3"H x 5"W x 9"D and less than 5 pounds. All further details on the KXPA100 (and the companion 100-W ATU, the KXAT100) will be announced later this year. 73, Wayne N6KR ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

With the growing catalog of Elecraft products, it would be a great enhancement to clarity were the model designation of various accessories that are particular to one rig revised to contain the full base model designation in the first few letters, viz.: KX3PA vs. KXPA100 KX3AT vs. KXAT3 K1NB vs. KNB1 K1FL4 vs. KFL1-4 K2R160 vs. K160RX K2AT100 vs. KAT100 K2XV60 vs. K60XV K2PA100 vs. KPA100 K3TCXO vs. KTCXO3 K3FLA400 vs. KFL3A-400 etc., etc., etc.! The suggested revision would make it obvious what accessory goes to what rig, which has certainly not been the case for several years. It will only get worse as the Elecraft catalog grows. IMHO, of course. > All further details on the KXPA100 (and the companion 100-W ATU, the > KXAT100) will be announced later this year. In 2011? (Only a few days left.) Or...later, in 2012? Mike,
This is easy to do in hindsight, but difficult in practice because of the reams of internal, vendor, and customer documents that would have to be changed. Also, we had specific reasons for using certain model numbers, and they have semantic and historical significance. For example, the K2's amp is a "KPA100" rather than a "KPA2" because we wanted to emphasize the "100" (watts) as Elecraft broke out of the QRP-only genre for the first time. Also, we originally planned to allow use of the KPA100 as a generic 100-W amp sometime in the future. That never happened, though the FCC changes would actually allow it now. Note that the KX3's 100-W amp *is* generally applicable -- hence "KXPA100". Etc. If we're lucky, our model number choices will inspire curiosity and discussion among linguistic paleontologists in the future. 73, Wayne N6KR On Dec 30, 2011, at 2:46 PM, Mike Morrow wrote: > Wayne wrote: > >> It's KXPA100, though, not KPA100.
