Does anyone have any experience using a BuddiPole antenna with their
KX1. Any words of wisdom you can offer a CW & KX1 newbie would be appreciated. I have used the BuddiStick with a K1-4...
Works very well with QSO's all over Asia and South America (+USA) with just 5 watts.. I like the way the BuddiStack packs away in its own case. Hmmmm The KX1 might fit in there too.. 73, Art W6KY ............................................. I do not have a KX1 but I have used the Buddipole with many small qrp rigs
( SW40, Sw30, SW20 and others) and it works very well. 72 Geo?W2BPI Does anyone have any experience using a BuddiPole antenna with their KX1. Everything fits in the buddipole carrying case making a nice "grab and go" HF station. I'd recommend getting an antenna analyzer to use with the buddipole, makes setting it up a lot easier. Alternately you could make a card with all the settings for coil taps and whip extension and use that, but I found that the settings are somewhat dependent on ground conditions and any nearby objects. I keep an MFJ-259B with the buddipole just to make life easier. Other than that, get on the air. Have fun. Best way to get good at CW is to use it often. I'm still learning, but I've found the process to be a blast! 73, Sean - VA5LF ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I'll also add that I've been happy with the Buddipole that I've used with my
KX1 and K2. Once you get used to tuning it for the band you want, it works well and is very portable. 73 Jay W9IUF On Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 4:42 PM, G. Another option for a very convenient portable antenna is the Chameleon V1
www.chaeleonantenna.com Also, check out the Chameleon Yahoo Group. I used one for the for first time in Haiti during the EmComm support for the Univ. of Miami hospital in Port-au-Prince. The V1 performed beyond my expectation for a simple, quick to deploy antenna. We used it on HF Freqs from 4 to 14.300Mhz, 2 Meters and on the GMRS frequencies.
