Any ideas on keeping the paddle screw tight?
Mine seems to work loose easily, Locktite or similar would work but I want to remove it. 72, Bob KI0G ____________________________________________________________________________________ We won't tell. Try liquid soap; it can set fairly hard but not too hard to undo. As a matter of fact there are several grades of Loctite but it would be a waste for just one application. Hellerine oil also works, but, again a waste to buy a bottle.

It can act as a reusable loctite. Some bicycle wheel builders use it to prevent spokes from unwinding from their nipples. Blue Locktite is not permanent, that should do the trick.

A lot ops simply used a split-ring lock washer under the thumbscrew. It does
leave a mark on the soft aluminum housing, but it's hidden under the screw in any case. Hi cousin Bob
Another idea is a blast from the past: it was common to use a very thin piece of rubber band inserted before the screw. It's a bit fiddly to get it in but it worked well in old IF transformers. I don't have this problem with my KX1, but if I ever develop it,
I suspect that the first thing I'll try is a nylon or fiber washer under the thumbscrew. This is a reasonable attempt at a non-marking lockwasher... and the next thing is to try an extra thin flat washer (made from shim stock) plus a conventional lockwasher. The flat washer will protect the aluminum. 73 de chris K6DBG _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
