KX3 Power On Function and Firmware 1.61

redeast
I use my KX3 only in a fixed environment.The need to push two buttons for Power On can be rather clumsy.Can see need in portable op but is there a work around for just one button Power On operation?
Also I installed firmware MCU1.61/DSP1.23 .For those who use AM,which is probably few, the firmware now makes AM transmit useable on the KX3.Thanks Elecraft!!
Cheers..Larry

Charlie T, K3ICH
Personally, it is a small "price-to-pay" for not accidently running down my
internal batteries when carrying the packed radio.

You can even choose which two fingers you want to use too.

If you don't mind a little bit of external hardware connected between the Mic,
and radio, you can power up a KX3 by applying a +ve voltage to the Mic PTT
line.

From page 28 in the user manual....

<Quote>
Remote Power On/Off
To turn the KX3 on, a remote-control system can place 8 to 12 volts DC on the
mic jack´s PTT line for 100 ms or longer. (The ACC2 jack´s PTT IN pin function
cannot be used for power-on control.  Use only the MIC PTT line.)
<UnQuote>

To power it down, you still need to press the two buttons, or send it the remote
command 'PS0:' on the serial remote control port.   But see the note about
letting it shutdown, before turning off the power supply feeding the rig.  (Not a
problem if batteries are fitted I think.)
