KX3 and HDSDR

I connected KX3 to a laptop and ran HDSDR. It appears that sideband are not distinguished as during tuning some signals move left and some move right. Also no movement on phase pictures.

I checked that the cable is stereo. No Omni-Rig yet.

Any idea?

Try reversing the cables.

What cables?

I tried to adjust amplitude/phase on the laptop to eliminate the other sideband. No effect. Perhaps teh card does not work in stereo although the card setup indicated that it is capable. Then moved to desktop. The adjustments worked. However, there is lots of noise +-5Khz from the center.

Is there a good reason to work many KHz from the center?
Seems one needs a good write up on interfacing HDSDR with KX3.

The cable may be stereo, but mic input for the laptop may be mono. At
least that's the case with many laptops. If so, you'll have to get an
outboard sound module.

It is a rare built-in laptop sound card that has a stereo input. They
are almost always mono mic inputs (except for some Apple laptops).

Some have mono mic input, but stereo line in on same plug. My Dell Latitude
620 is thus equipped.

I found out that on my laptop the sound is configured as mono but can be changed to stereo after quite a few configurations changes.

If you are speaking about the stereo input configuration of a standard laptop chip (realtek or other), please explain with more details, I am interested.

I have tested some USB sticks you can find on Ebay, but did not find one with a stereo input.

What I am looking for is the one that Eric showed me working KX3/NaP3 while in Hamexpo Friedrichshafen :

Today (3/26/2013) K3WWP and I did some extensive testing and checking on how to get HDSDR to cooperate with my laptop. After plenty of frustration we accidentally found that the external sound card I was trying to use (has a line in jack) loaded a extra soundcard driver that works with the mic input on the laptop. Connect the KX3 Serial to USB converter cable to the accessory 1 on your KX3 and connect a 1/8-1/8 cable (adapter needed on the KX3 end) from your laptop mic in to the I/Q on your KX3. This should help your rig and laptop communicate with each other.
