It's been a while since I've seen any chatter about the soon to be released KXPA100 regarding cost and availability. Any one have any new info? I saw the KXPA100 at SeaPac (Seaside, Oregon, June 1st). I guess it was a kind of prototype but it looked like a working model to me. I picked it up to see how heavy it was and I am guessing about 5 lbs or under -- by the way, I am not good at guessing weight. Eric was right there so I asked him if this was the weight of the final model and he said that that particular unit did not have the antenna tuner in it and that would add a little.
Nice design. The LEDs and buttons (not even sure if there was more than one button though) were on the end face which was about the size of a P3 standing on end (rotated 90 degrees). It was about 8 or 9 inches deep (long) and again this was just a guess. I did not spend too much time studying it as it was on display and the crowds were beginning to gather. 73, phil, K7PEH On Jun 7, 2013, at 10:11 AM, P.J.Hicks <[hidden email]> wrote: > > > It's been a while since I've seen any chatter about the soon to be released KXPA100 regarding cost and availability. The one I saw at Dayton was about 4.5 by 4.5 inches on the face
(including the heat sink), and about 10 inches in depth. Those measurements are not exact, and only represent the accuracy of my "calibrated eye". The KXPA3 took up about 1 3/8 vertical inches of panel space and the vertical height of the KXAT3 was the same. My 'eye' was 'calibrated' after 10 years of running a custom woodworking shop, where I was acclimated to making approximate measurements. When the real measurements are revealed, it will be interesting to compare my approximations - my skills with that stuff are now 13 years old. 73, Don W3FPR On 6/7/2013 8:22 PM, Phil Hystad wrote: > I saw the KXPA100 at SeaPac (Seaside, Oregon, June 1st). I got a response from one of the developers working with the KXPA100 and
the KXAT100 that the one his tape measure said it was 4 5/8 inches wide, 4 inches high and 9 inches in depth. So my 'eye calibration' was not far off the actual dimensions. 73, Don W3FPR ----------------------------------------------------------- The one I saw at Dayton was about 4.5 by 4.5 inches on the face (including the heat sink), and about 10 inches in depth. Sounds right. When I saw the one in Seapac I thought that one of the dimensions was longer than the other. That is why I said it was about the size of a P3 rotated but that is just a wild comparison -- I never measured it and only held it for about 3 seconds.
