Keyboards for P3/SVGA

Edward A. Dauer
Some time ago there was a discussion about the fact that some standard computer keyboards do not play well with the P3/SVGA and possibly not with the PX3 either.  I am about to buy one.  Anyone have advice about a readily available make & model that does work well?

Thanks in advance,

Ted, KN1CBR

Here's a list of keyboards that are known to work with the PX3:

http://www.elecraft.com/manual/px3_keyboard_list_A3.pdf

I think most "plain Jane" keyboards will work.  It says:

Note: Most "PC BIOS compatible" keyboards will work.  In other
words, the keyboard must be able to be recognized by the PC
BIOS.  This rules out Bluetooth and multimedia style keyboards,
those with mice, touchpads, and multimedia functions.

I believe that keyboards that work with the PX3 should work with the
P3/SVGA also.

As I remember, the P3 does not support USB hubs. So, I would
also avoid any keyboard with a built-in USB hub like the older
Apple keyboards. These keyboards can be recognized because they
have connections for additional USB devices.

I use a wireless keyboard made by TECKNET that works fine.  You plug in
the wireless adapter to the USB port on the P3 or PX3 and your set.

This is small and inexpensive:
Boxcave 78 Key Wired USB Mini Slim Keyboard

You can find it on Amazon for $19.00. Anything similar would work just as well. I agree with the others. Stay away from elaborate keyboards that have USB ports or other bells and whistles.
