Keying the K3 for RTTY

Bill Miller
I wanted to amke a few RTTY contacts in the recent contest. I could decode the TTY but my K3-connected keyer would not send out signals. What am I missing?

Re: Keying the K3 for RTTY

Cady, Fred
Hi Bill,
You have to use the K3's internal keyer to send data.
Cheers and 73,

Bill,

If by "keyer" you mean paddle, then FSK-D data mode should work. AFSK
will also decode, but not encode.

if you mean a keyer and not paddles, then it won't work.  The K3 must
encode from the paddles, not from an external keyer, to send PSK or RTTY
using the built-in encoder.
