Hear Hear on your comments Larry K2GN
I skim thru nearly all the reflector postings, a time consuming task, and often find initially it is about a subject of no interest to me. But of course one picks up much info on the way - If only I could remember it all !! I would like to see say three categories, K3 (my interest) Kx3 perhaps incorporated with other qrp gear like KX1 and perhaps accessories which could be P3 and KPA500 and KAT500 etc. What do others think? It's really easier than that.
A properly identified message - either in the subject or by using things like - [K3], or [P3] etc.. would allow fast id'ing of the message and even filtering and filing of messages in their own mail folder. I've been using that scheme but guys just don't format the subject line well enough for it to work. Bottom line - better subjects and less chit chat goes a long way towards helping things. I have filters on my e-mail reader (Thunderbird) that will examine the subject line and/or body of the messages as they are downloaded and direct them into the following subfolders: Elecraft General (no reference to K2 or K3), Elecraft K2 (my rig), Elecraft K3 (also catches the "children" of K3 and P3), and Elecraft Misc (other products such as KPA500). May not work for everybody but it works for me. 73 de K2ASP - Phil Kane Elecraft K2/100 s/n 5402 From a Clearing in the Silicon Forest Beaverton (Washington County) Oregon ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Use the piece of equipment you want to follow and use the word in the
subject of the filter you are building. E.G, KX3. All subjects with KX3 will wind up where you want. The rest: simply delete. Or send all to the trash except the KX3. 73, Bill K9YEQ -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of K2GN Sent: Thursday, December 27, 2012 5:53 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Long Messages It's really easier than that. The moderator has always expressed his concern to not make seperate lists.
It used to be practice to start the subject line with the model like [K3] but the group as a whole will not keep this up. It helps those that have filters to seperate them. Nabble appears somewhat broken. It rarely sorts messages these days, even with a title which includes something like [K3].
For example, the last 8 K3 posts which were placed in the K3 subdirectory date back to Dec 2, and the last 8 P3 posts date back to Oct 2, with only one in Dec and one in Nov. Barry W2UP

I've never found Nabble to be "usable"... won't use it.
Reading this list hasn't been a problem for me, either. 73! K0PP On Fri, Dec 28, 2012 at 2:09 PM, Barry <[hidden email]> wrote: > Nabble appears somewhat broken. Most email clients have a filter mechanism where which allows you to put
messages into a folder you specify. For instance, I filter on "[Elecraft]" and all reflector posts go into the Elecraft folder. I can quickly exercise the delete key unless it is something I think is worth keeping. In that case, I could manually move it to a sub-folder if I desired. I find it is easier to handle my email with my Thunderbird email client than to attempt to view it on the web. I only use the web for things I want to dig out of the archives. YMMV Try the filters, they make life more bearable than having everything rolled up in one Inbox. 73, Don W3FPR On 12/28/2012 10:20 AM, Ken G Kopp wrote: > I've never found Nabble to be "usable"... won't use it. > > Reading this list hasn't been a problem for me, either. > > 73! > > K0PP > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Tnx for the info, Dave. When I joined the list a few years ago, everything went into its proper subfolder, and I just assumed it was an automated process.
As Elecraft products continue to grow in number and popularity, a single list will become more and more unmanageable over time. 73, Barry W2UP

If there's going to be a vote [which I sincerely doubt], I vote for one
list. I have yet to exhaust the capabilities of T-Bird in filtering and segregating messages. Including the Elecraft product(s) in the subject line really really helps, but even if not there, 98%+ of the Elecraft list messages still end up where I want them. 73, Fred K6DGW - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2013 Cal QSO Party 5-6 Oct 2013 - www.cqp.org "In this age, the first thing you need to learn is the location of the Del key." Fred,
Likewise. I have so much Elecraft stuff I don't want to miss anything important to me. I don't bother with any messages that don't include the proper subject. It goes into the deleted folder. 73, Bill K9YEQ K2 FT, KX1 FT, KX3 FT, KAT500 FT -----Original Message----- If there's going to be a vote [which I sincerely doubt], I vote for one list. As stated before, we will keep it as a single list. Let's end the thread for now.
