How would I go about making the feet on the K3 "stickier?" I don't want
them *stuck* to the shelf my radio sits on, but if I bump it or try to plug something in, I chase it around the shelf. Is there something I can use to make it just a tad stickier? Line your shelves with that stuff they sell to keep carpets from sliding
around. Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. Very thin, cuts with a scissor, has a waffle design. Works for me. WalMart and other similiar stores sell the soft, "no slip" stuff in
rolls for use in lining shelves and drawers. You'll find it in several colors in WalMart's kitchen section. 73! Just a TAD stickier -- clean the feet, they probably have accumulated
some dust and that makes them slippery. If you need more than a "tad", look at some of the anti-slide shelf lining that is used in RVs. 73, Don W3FPR On 3/13/2012 8:14 PM, Joel Black wrote: > How would I go about making the feet on the K3 "stickier?" I've had no problem with the K3 feet on my shelves but those shelves may
have different surface stickiness than yours. When I have problems with other devices moving around (mainly paddles), I put rubber kitchen cabinet shelf liner under them. It's very soft and doesn't slip. /Rick On Tue, Mar 13, 2012 at 5:14 PM, Joel Black <[hidden email]> wrote: > How would I go about making the feet on the K3 "stickier?" Double what Don said. I find the sticky factor wears off over time, and the
solution is to simply take a (slightly) damp cloth and wipe down the feet and the shelf they sit on. --Andrew, NV1B .. I used that stuff to keep my key from sliding so easily on the desktop.
Cut little circles out of the stuff and glued them under each foot pad with a tiny dab of rubber cement so I could peel them off later if needed. Works pretty well, they key stays put a lot better. Fun Tack!
A little dab under each foot and it's not going anywhere but it can easily be cleaned off. I use when I had my P3 on top of my K3, worked like a champ and everything cleaned nicely when I moved it. Also keeps all those DXCC framed certificates from tilting around on your wall.. http://www.amazon.com/Loctite-1087306-2-Ounce-Fun-Tak-Mounting/dp/B001F57ZPW Rick K6LE On 3/13/2012, at 5:14 , Joel Black <[hidden email]> wrote: > How would I go about making the feet on the K3 "stickier?" Back in the "old" days, I used to use rubber cement to glue the bug to the
table! Worked great. Now, with my paddles, I just use that shelf liner stuff. Works great too. I clean things with alcohol solvent. For those uninformed, Everclear is an alcoholic product. 190 proof or
95% pure grain alcohol. In other words, Legalized Moonshine here in North Carolina. 73, Don W3FPR On 3/14/2012 1:53 AM, Hisashi T Fujinaka wrote: > On Tue, 13 Mar 2012, KU7Y wrote: > >> Back in the "old" days, I used to use rubber cement to glue the bug to the >> table! >> >> Worked great. >> >> Now, with my paddles, I just use that shelf liner stuff. Yep, but do I drink it and not care that the radio is crooked or put it
on the feet? Just kidding. :) Thanks for all the suggestions. I've used the rubber mat in my toolbox. Great idea, Blair. However, I find marguerita mix stickier and more easily accessible. It's all over my operating desk.

Joel,
Amazing that no one has yet pointed out the obvious solution -- get a heavier radio. The K3 is just too darn light -- you need a MAN'S radio, one of those YaeComWood 50-pounders. I bet then it won't slide, no matter what you are trying to plug into it. (Said firmly with tongue in cheek, in case anyone's blood pressure is rising). 73, -- Dave, N8SBE > -------- Original Message -------- > Subject: [Elecraft] Make the Feet "Stickier" > From: Joel Black <[hidden email]> > Date: Tue, March 13, 2012 8:14 pm > To: [hidden email], elecraft <[hidden email]> > > > How would I go about making the feet on the K3 "stickier?"
