Can a headset such as the Yamaha CM500 be plugged in the KX3...i.e., the stereo plug for audio and the mono plug for mike as is possible in the K3???
Or is the MH3 mike (4-circuit plug) offered by Elecraft the only mike that will work with the KX3?? 73, Joe W2KJ I QRP, therefore I am ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Joe,
Only a microphone with a 4 circuit plug can be used with the KX3, but it should be a simple matter to make up a small box which accommodates the CM500 plug as well as a switch for PTT and has a 4 circuit plug at its output. We hams can build adapters of that sort, at least this ham does! 73, Don W3FPR On 12/29/2011 2:17 AM, Joseph Trombino, Jr wrote: > Can a headset such as the Yamaha CM500 be plugged in the KX3...i.e., the stereo plug for audio and the mono plug for mike as is possible in the K3??? > > Or is the MH3 mike (4-circuit plug) offered by Elecraft the only mike that will work with the KX3?? > > 73, Joe W2KJ > I QRP, therefore I am > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

A quick scan of Google came up with this site with all kinds of adapters for iphones with the 4 pole plug.

However, the KX3 is not an iPhone. The iPhone pinout includes a left and
right audio out channel, and audio in, and a ground. From previous published comments, it appears the KX3 will have a PTT/UP/DN line, an audio in (with bias for an electret element I assume), and two ground lines. One would need the pin out of the connector on the KX3 (not yet published) in order to modify an existing adapter or build your own. I am confident the mic jack pin out will be published, and people will be able to pursue whatever microphone arrangement they desire. 73, Bruce, N1RX > A quick scan of Google came up with this site with all kinds of adapters > for iphones with the 4 pole plug. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Im sure we'll get some more info as it becomes available. Its nice to get a stock of raw materials. This is not a widely available part yet. I know mouser did not have them.
