During the recent SS, I was having to change for LSB to USB or the reverse
every time I changed between 40m and 20m. SSB is not a major mode for me so it was the first time in a contest. I looked through the book and could not find anything about teaching it which sideband is prefered on each band. What am I missing? -- Dick - K4XU ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
The K3 normally remembers the mode you last used on each band. If you set it to LSB on 40m then that should not have affected the USB on 20m and it should remember those modes whenever you change bands. I never experience the problem you describe. I suspect that you were using some kind of logging software. If it tries to set the mode instead of leaving it to the K3 to do that then it could be causing the problem.

You are correct, N1MM Logger is sending the MD; command before the FA; command. When going from 40 to 20 meters, this changes the mode on 40 meters to USB then switches to 20. In the other direction, the mode on 20 is changed to LSB then the K3 is switched to 40 meters (where it had been set to USB when leaving the band). This is a bug in N1MM Logger. 73, ... Hold Alt under the MODE switch to toggle between: USB and LSB; CW and CW REV; AM and Synchronous AM; etc. 73, Lyle KK7P ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Im not sure but If I understand the problem correctly when using MM to change to another
band that would have a diff sideband the sequence being executed is: Start on 20M Click on the 40M button in MM sets mode to LSB sets freq to 7.xxx I think this is setting the mode on 20M to LSB. So when you return to 20M it is not on USB. As Joe Subich pointed out, if the sequence were changed to: Click on 40M button in MM sets freq to 7.xxx set mode to LSB this would not effect the mode on the band you are leaving, only the band you are changing to. I have not evaluated this to see the results of the current setup, but there have been a couple reports so I suspect the problem is real and should be corrected. ------------------------- 73, Greg - AB7R Whidbey Island WA NA-065 On Tue Nov 24 9:58 , Lyle Johnson sent: >> -- how can we change from LSB to USB when it's wrong? > >Hold Alt under the MODE switch to toggle between: USB and LSB; CW and CW >REV; AM and Synchronous AM; etc. > >73, > >Lyle KK7P > >______________________________________________________________ >Elecraft mailing list >Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft >Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm >Post: [hidden email]','','','')">[hidden email] > >This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net >Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

ALT works from the K3 front panel or type the proper LSB/USB into the call box of the N1MM Logger Entry Window. 73, ...
