On my K3 #7482, when I adjust audio settings (comp, mic gain, TX gate) the monitor audio in the headphones becomes loud and distorted.
Exiting back to the normal display or un-keying and keying immediately clears the issue. Don't find it a big issue - just interested if it's normal? -- 73 de G8DX/M ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Thanks John. I'm not alone then.
As I said, not bothered, just curious. -- 73 de G8DX/M On 28 Jul 2013, at 17:32, John Chappell G3XRJ <[hidden email]> wrote: > Same here Jack - K3 4606 > > 73 > > John G3XRJ > > >> On my K3 #7482, when I adjust audio settings (comp, mic gain, TX gate) the monitor audio in the headphones becomes loud and distorted. >> >> Exiting back to the normal display or un-keying and keying immediately clears the issue. >> >> Don't find it a big issue - just interested if it's normal? >> >> -- >> 73 de G8DX/M >> >> >> >> _ > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Wow: K3 #7554!
My K3 #7482 is only weeks old - they're certainly shifting them! -- 73 de G8DX/M On 28 Jul 2013, at 19:09, Martin Kratoska <[hidden email]> wrote: > Same here. The K3 MON for voice can be set to have minimum delay, in which case you
hear unprocessed audio. Or, it can be set to hear the effects of EQ, CMP etc., but with some delay. The delay bothers some people. The selection is a menu-settable option. However, when you adjust MIC settings, the radio will revert to MON being the signal as it will be heard going out over the air (with delay) even if you have it set for "fast" MON. This is to enable you to properly adjust for the tx EQ, CMP and etc that best suits your voice and your goal (good fidelity for Rag Chewing, maximum "talk power" for DX pile-up busting, etc.). If your audio sounds bad when you adjust CMP, Tx Gate, Mic GAIN, etc., then you should probably consider adjusting things so that they sound like what you would like to hear at the other end of the QSO :-) Check the manual and firmware release notes for more details. 73, Lyle KK7P > On my K3 #7482, when I adjust audio settings (comp, mic gain, TX gate) the monitor audio in the headphones becomes loud and distorted. > > Exiting back to the normal display or un-keying and keying immediately clears the issue. > > Don't find it a big issue - just interested if it's normal? ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Thanks Lyle
for me it was Tx Mon on Fast that was causing the effect. Sounds fine when Tx Mon nor 73 John G3XRJ > The K3 MON for voice can be set to have minimum delay, in which case > you hear unprocessed audio. > > Or, it can be set to hear the effects of EQ, CMP etc., but with some > delay.
