New K3 & P3 Beta Firmware Available

Hi all,

K3 beta firmware rev 4.12 and P3 rev 0.36 are now available. If you
have a P3, you'll want to load both. They work together to greatly
reduce serial I/O delays with PC applications such as HRD.

There are many other improvements as well. See release notes for both
K3 and P3 below.

What is the purpose of the new P3 "Knob Tap" and "Knob Hold" menu functions?

Several people complained that they don't like pressing the knob switch.
This allows you to assign knob tap and hold to FN keys.

It is also useful if you want a quicker "un-QSY" (normally knob hold).
You can assign it to one of the FN tap keys.

I tried to load newest fimware to K3 and P3

Within loading 4.12 (and P3 inline) the K3 util said unable to load… and K3 hangs
Tried to do forcing firmware download as descripted in manual… tx-led blinking and lcd – mcu ld the util software is polling K3 on multiple baudrates but coult not find K3
Tried to new reboot PC just with one usb connection (only to k3) same problem

Is there any other possibility to force K3 to connect to PC ??

Do you have a computer with true serial RS-232? If so try downloading the latest K3 Utility (1.3.9.12) to it.

After physically disconnecting the power plug on the rear of the K3 for at least 1 minute, connect the serial cable to the K3 only, turn the K3 power on and then try to run the Utility.

It sounds like you have some sort of problem with your USB connection (which seems to be a common problem). There's a link near the top of the software page above with the latest recommended USB driver.

I probably should have added the following (from Greg AB7R) in place of "turn K3 on and then try to run the Utility" above:

With Gary´s help I got the update...

To wait more than 5 min was the deal… and of course unplug P3 as I did already before

New firmeares are fine – no malfunction between interaction K3 – P3- Logger32 any more
