About this time of night the cluster fills up with spots from 6's and 7's
working into rare spots in Asia. Sometimes I can hear a few dits from the Vietnam or Cambodia station, but usually not. To remedy this situation, I propose a sure-fire winner to add to the Elecraft product line: what they did for the 500 watt amp, they need to do for the 5 band, 5-element Yagi. Squeeze it down so that I can mount it on my chimney and tuck it away where the neighbors can't see it, but make it perform as if were full-size and about 50 feet higher. The perfect completion to the K-line, the KYAG-5x5. 73, Tony KT0NY -- http://www.isb.edu/faculty/facultydir.aspx?ddlFaculty=352 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Agree regarding the KPA500.
But why not make the antenna a 1.8-50.0MHz log-periodic with a minimum gain of 5 dB? That looks like it! We just have to keep after them to release it.

Nice! Looks pretty funky!
Maybe Elecraft should sponsor a design contest to make a working all-band antenna in that exact configuration. Something they could sell. The winner gets a complete K-Line station! Eric? Don't hold your breath, but do check out the new compact beams from N6BT. I haven't tried them yet and Tom is realistic about their comparison to full-size Yagis, but they look quite appealing for field use and limited space situations.

Because of health problems, I haven't tried it yet, but it looks like a good, sturdy, piece of hardware. I spent 7 weeks trying to get that antenna from N6BT but Tom never came through with a delivery date for my order much less produce the antenna. I sent emails to three different email addresses he gave me and multiple calls to his cell phone went unanswered. A real shame as I really wanted to give the Q-52 antenna a try.
After wasting all that time I ordered a Cushcraft MA-5B on their website after hours on Monday and it arrived at my house Thursday. Really wish I had started there. 73, Joe, W8JH

Tom is a really good antenna designer. He has some interesting antennas
on his new site. Running the business was never a strong point. F12 suffered from many of the same issues.
