[OT] IDXC Visalia - N6BT Antennas

Don Putnick-4
Hi all,

I know the N6BT Antenna thread was closed earlier this month, but I have some direct information.

Tom is one of the exhibitors at IDXC. I stopped by his booth to ask him to do some custom work for the 40M coils on my Bravo 7K. He took my request and my phone number, so we'll see what happens. I didn't ask for his phone number.

He said he shut down the Angels Camp operation and moved it back home. He said his email has been back up for about a week. For personal reasons (totally unrelated to Tom or the business) Natan moved back East and is no longer working Tom's email.

Try sending him another email. Of course, YMMV.

And to make this less OT, my K3/KPA500/KAT500 and my Bravo 7K have really improved my DXing.

Don,
Given the myriad of stories about Tom not answering email, why in the
world wouldn't you ask for his phone number? This seems a recipe for
frustration to me.

And honestly, Tom's explanation sounds like more excuse making to me. It
isn't really hard to answer emails, and I'm pretty sure if someone is
smart enough to design and antenna, he or she is certainly smart enough
to answer emails. My feeling is that Tom feels like he has enough
customers and probably only responds to emails from guys he's heard of
or his buddies.

73 and good luck, you'll probably need it.

Hhmmm .... downsizing the business.  I'm sure it has nothing to do with
really poor customer service.

Oh wait ...

Scott,

Over the past 12 months I sent numerous emails trying to order one of his
antennas. Gave up in the end as I never did get a reply.

In a word?....hopeless and  I just figured he didn't like Aussie's...:-)

I think you nailed it buddy, "Recipe for disaster" sounds about right to me.

Oh, and I rolled my own verticals, added a heap of radials and I am
satisfied with true vertical quarter wave monobanders now.

Good luck and well wishef for those who try again again to get any service
from Tom. Elecraft sure do spoil us eh?
