OT and NOT

cheng076

First I want to thank all those who tried to help me resolve the several issues with my K3/100 kit. After several days of tradeing emails and doing the suggested tests and checks I, we, Elecraft, have been unable to get it going so I'm throwing in the towel and sending it to them for repair. Even Fred Cady's manual was no help...great resource though.

Next, I saw mention of a program called 'K3 EZ' and tried to fi nd it on the web. No luck. It was not downloadable to the files section of any yahoo group but there were several suggestions of how to make it available. Apparently that is not forthcomming. Does anyone know how I might get a copy of the program? Or where to look?

Lastly the OT part. Ron, your remarks re ships suggests you were the 'Radio' or REO onboard??  I also made a career at  sea but as chief en gineer on the Matson vessel 'Chief Gadao', a 900 ft steam container ship. I was her chief for almost 13 years until I retired.

BTW, I bought and downloaded the PDF version of Cady's book and printed it out and had it ring bound at the UPS store for less than $5

Re: OT and NOT

k6mkf
Hi Pj,

I used this link:  http://vk4tux.no-ip.org/LIST/K3_EZ_V2008.zip

Seems to work here for the download.   This is version V2008 and seems to have some issues with Windows 7, especially with the RX EQ and TX EQ settings.   You may have better luck.   Still, a great way to see how a lot of values are set on a single page.

Yes - things can sure get complicated quickly with a K3. That said, here
is a location you can find the 2005 version of K3_EZ at:

http://www.w2blc.net/K3_EZ_V2005.zip

Be fore-warned that there are some issues with all the versions. Mostly
involving Win7. As for myself, I found that the EQs can be set up nicely
from K3_EZ, however the AGC settings may not stick. I now just do things
the manual way from the MENU and CONFIG. Instant action and the results
stay. (I also recommend you keep good notes on any changes you make).

Enjoy - I will leave the program there for all to download for a while.

K3 - AM/FM filter settings

W4GRJ
I installed both AM & FM filters and set them up using the K3 utility
program, with AM using both filters. When I adjust the filter width on the
K3 the max I can get on AM is 5 kHz. On FM it shows N/A. What am I missing ?
