Well, I apparently have offended one of the folks on the list, who advises me I
am a "sarcastic malcontent," due to my earlier post in reference to the rather odd topics that seem to have taken over the Elecraft List, such as: 1. English (idioms and vernacular) 2. The Best handi-talky 3. RST S meter readings 4. The Woodpecker and of course the classic "Signing /QRP" So sorry if my ignorance has caused me to fail to recognize the relationship of the above to Elecraft products. It was pointed out to that 'Signing /QRP" is on topic since Elecraft makes QRP radios, and the Subject is /QRP? therefore it is relevant. Therefore since many of us speak English into our Elecraft microphones, #1 above is also on topic. Handi talkies are usually QRP, so there';s #2. Of course the K2 and K3 have S-meters, so that takes care of #3. #4 is a bit more difficult, but I am sure it is obvious to my critic. So sorry, carry on, as they say. As you were. -- --- _ _ _ _ _ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ John L. Didn't offend me. I have a delete button that is easy enough to use.

How are these wildly OT posts relevant? Why they're relevant because
they're of interest to Elecraft customers. Any relationship to Elecraft gear is somewhat beside the point. OT posts occur on every list I've ever been on. They only become a problem when they take over a list. Trying to keep discussions constrained to things that are purely on-topic makes a list rather dry & legalistic. Dry in that there is less variety, and dry in that the number of posts, and therefore the level of activity and sense of excitement, drops. And actually, this reply, and maybe even the message to which I'm replying are both OT, right? - Keith N1AS - - K2 5411.ssb.100 - -----Original Message----- ... rather odd topics that seem to have taken over the Elecraft List, such as: 1. Guys - Let's end this thread before it takes off.
1. In general we welcome most topics on the Elecraft list. Please do not strongly criticize other's postings, OT or not, or posters. We want this to be a friendly, cordial list. 2. Please try to be as terse as possible (and delete most copied reply text) when posting and please try to avoid 'me too' and 'I agree/disagree' posts. Doing this greatly reduces the list noise level and email volume. 2. As moderator I'll step in when I feel a thread is getting too OT or is taking up too much space. I try to moderate with a light hand, and when I'm away a thread may take on a life of its own. I'll always jump back in though when I do see it getting out of control. 3. Feel free to complain to the moderator. :-) 73, Eric WA6HHQ Elecraft List Moderator _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. I agree with you, the whole topic of QRP operating procedures is of
interest to many Elecraft users. 73, Steve AA4AK At 01:16 PM 6/13/2007, W2AGN wrote: >Well, I apparently have offended one of the folks on the list, who >advises me I am a "sarcastic malcontent," due to my earlier post in >reference to the rather odd topics that seem to have taken over the >Elecraft List, such as: > >1. And I'll bet that an Elecraft "woodpecker blanker" would have worked a lot better than the ones on the Yakencom rigs.
