Other than placing a few orders to the "office", via the web page  I
have had no need to contact anyone at Elecraft, and I'm a long term K3
user.  Now that is REALLY demonstrating how good these fine folks and
products are.  73 bob de w9ge

Go Elecraft, 1st class operation indeed!

Needed the K3IOBUFFKT to get my LP-Pan working ... one call to Dale at
Elecraft ... in my mail box two days later.

Support just don't get any better than that ... hooray to all at Elecraft.

I have heard lots of good things about Elecraft and its staff on this list.
I recently placed my first order with Elecraft and I seem to be the
exception to the "rule".

When I received the email to say my order was shipped I noticed the first
letter of the street address had changed from an "M" to an "N". but the
house number was still correct. I used Reply in my email program to ask the
person sending the shipping notice to confirm the address but never received
a response. I also never knew how much was being charged to my credit card
until I received my next CC statement. Seems I was charged the the rate on
the website of $35 and actual shipping was around $24.

The item arrived promptly (the postal code probably helped to point to the
right street). Checking the packing slip I saw the same street name error as
in the confirmation email, the wrong callsign, and the wrong (but still
valid) phone number. Looking back at the original order, the phone number
error was mine. I used the secondary number at the house.

The other issue was a minor one with a small hole in the plastic back of the
mini kit. A couple of parts were poking out the bottom of the bag. An
inventory of the parts showed that nothing was missing but a part or two
could easily have been lost/misplaced due to the hole in the bag.

Overall, the problems were minor. It just shows that even the best of
companies still has room for improvement. Shipping labels and confirmation
should be part of the same order system to avoid errors in the paperwork and
confirmation email.

No, not really a complaint. More a case of mentioning a number of issues I
experienced as contrast to the usual glowing reports one sees here.

Hi All,

Yes, the folks at Elecraft are human and do indeed make mistakes. That is
certainly true of them, or any group of humans!

Though it is certainly not true that they "can do no wrong" it is true that
they set the standard much higher than many other groups - and
among several of their competitors.

Remember: Nothing is absolute. ;-) Sort of like: Every rule has an
exception except this one! ;-) OK, I will stop now!

Have a great day!

Re: Office

VE3GNO Daniel
In reply to this post by wayne burdick
With Elecraft Office I had two times excellent experience, last month at Dayton I ordered my P3 and I arranged to be delivered at the hotel one day before my arrival (I arranged to be delivered before my arrival to be on the safe side just in case). So in my case the delivery method was little bit complicated...shipping address different to billing address plus to a hotel over UPS and he service was AAA+. Same when I ordered my K3 around Xmas last year... I arranged with Ele Office to be delivered not in Canada but in US to a friend that I visited for few days on that time, AAA+ serivice also. One tip that I alway do when I have to arrange shipping over the phone (I am not a native English spreaker so I learned my lessons long time ago)...use ham radio phonetic alphabet when spelling address and kindly ask them to repete on the phone the address one more time to doublecheck all is ok. Also to be on the safe side one day before they suppose to
ship product do a follow-up with them. As far as I undarstand Elecraft is not a 10.000 employee company, I am not sure how many employee are working in Shipping Dpt but considering the volume of sales I bet this support department is understaffed and overloaded. I am looking only on SN only K3...in range of 7K so I bet at least 20 orders/day in different forms and quantities (my guestimate) and in some ocations like new line e.g kx3 launch can go over 50. And is well known office overloading is working resonable for peek times but not on regular basic...my two cents

That's it right there.

BTW, I'm building a KX1 right now, waiting for the 3 to be in stock, and had several occasions to start to email for a missing part...BUT, each time I thought of how unique that would be in my experience, so I looked deeper and found the part hiding under some foam etc. So it pays dividends...the excellent attention to quality control, eh?

On a different Front Office note.

Has anyone received any confirmation or order number for a phone order for their
KAT500 placed in the early batch when announced at Dayton.  Mine was placed May
18th.

Or am I a little premature?

Just a confirmation, nothing to do with shipping I know....   Hoping for that in
late August.

18 May 1315 PDT is what she said.  I don't think I got an email, I'd
likely have printed and saved it.  I could be wrong, that does
occasionally happen.  More than occasionally if you were to ask my wife.
