[P3] Adjusting Center Freq in Narrow Span

alorona
Something that I've not been able to do successfully:

Tune to a standard frequency station, like WWV on 10 MHz. Center WWV on the P3
screen (in other words, make the Center Freq = 10000 kHz exactly).

I want to span down from 20 kHz to the minimum span, 2 kHz.

NOTE: FixTrack = Fixed-tune mode for the following.

As I span down, the center frequency shifts to something like 10002 kHz. So
then I try to adjust the center freq back to 10000 kHz exactly, but the P3 won't
allow it. As you approach 10000 suddenly the center frequency jumps back to
10002.

It's an aggravation. Maybe it's a function of my FixTrack settings but I haven't
been able to understand why.

Re: [P3] Adjusting Center Freq in Narrow Span

Don Wilhelm-4
Al, I would start with the Calibration Reference Oscillator Calibration
as indicated in the manual (use Method 2).  After doing that, the K3 ref
osc calibration should be correct, and all other discrepancies should be
with the P3.  Refer to the P3 documentation for corrective actions.

Hi Al,

You have to be in tracking mode for the frequency calibration to work
correctly.
