[P3] Utility on a Mac

W4JBB
I am a new Mac user and have run into an issue.

I downloaded and installed the P3 Utility.  When it installed, I dragged
it to my Applications folder.  At first, it worked fine. Now, when I
click on it, I get the following message:

ERROR:  The HELP folder must be in the same location as the KX3 Utility app.

Yep, you read that right.  I get the same error when I click on the KX3
Utility.  If I go to System -> Library and search for "P3," I can find
the app and double-click it.  It runs fine.  However, if I take the app
that runs find and drag it to my Applications folder, I get the same
message as above.

I am still getting used to how OS X works and getting frustrated at times.

Thanks for the help.

73,
Joel - W4JBB

Joel;

With just a few exceptions (mostly Apple Apps), Mac apps do not have to be directly in the Applications folder. The solution to your problem is to put the entire folder containing the P3 Utility into the Applications folder. I actually have all my Elecraft Utilities in a single folder inside the Applications folder, each in its own folder inside one named "Ham Apps".

That should separate the applications enough so that you do not get that problem.

Mac OS X is a great OS. Welcome!

Thanks for the help, this has been solved. The solution is that you must
copy over the entire folder (from Downloads to Applications). Once I did
that, it worked fine.
