P3 Windows Utility Program 1.12.3.11

Harry G McGavran Jr

This past weekend I loaded the 1.11 firmware onto my P3
and today I installed the 1.12.3.11 utility program on
my Windows XP SP3 machine.

When capturing an image, the File->Save As only
stays highlighted for a brief time and using it
looks like it should be saving a file when clicking
OK to the file window that pops-up with the File->Save As,
but no file is saved.

This worked correctly with the previous version of this utility.

Is anyone else having this problem??

Yes -- that version works fine for me too, but the one
posted today (1.12.3.11) seems to fail.

Be sure you have the right utility running and the radio/device that
corresponds to it on.  The latest firmware is 1.11.  IF you are trying to
load something else... it probably won't work.

I'm saving to a different folder on another local drive, but this used
to work just fine with the previous version.

After the image has been completely captured and is being displayed by
the utility, the File-Save As stays as an option for 10 or 15 seconds,
and then it becomes grayed out.  When I click on it after the capture
is complete but before it becomes grayed out, I get the window with
the directory in which to save the file (which is the same directory
I was using with the previous version).  I can click OK and that window
closes, but no file is saved.

I'll try that...
Can you save to a local drive?

I saved successfully to a folder on a network drive, off my computer.

I saved it to my d: drive, now I have something ready to burn onto a DVD.
When I look at the "files ready to be written to the disc" folder, my image
file is there.

I think it's a file access problem of some sort.  Can you try a few
different places in your file system?

Dick

Yes, I loaded 1.11 onto my P3 this past weekend before I upgraded
the P3 utility program.  That update was just posted today.
The previous version captured images with File-Save As just
fine even with the 1.11 firmware.  The current version is
what is giving the problem.  I also notice that the captured
image is NOT appearing in the Windows clipboard either with
today's version of the utility.

The radio device is ok and the image capture shows the correct
image on the utility's main window, but I can't save the image
without doing a screen capture.

Switching the File->Save As back to my Documents and Settings
directory doesn't help either.

While it was another drive, it WAS a local drive.

I tried switching back to my Documents and Settings directory
on drive C: and that doesn't work either.

While the image does appear correctly on the utility's main
window and it never appears in the Window's clipboard either.

With each release of Windows, it ramps up the prohibition on writing anything under
Program Files. Us rugged individualists don't like that.... :-P

I've now tried all drives and a number of directories on each drive
and it fails for all of them.  The fact the image doesn't appear
in the window's clipboard even though it show's just fine in
the utility's main window seems to be a clue as well.

Are you sure you are using the new version of this utility that was
just posted today?  All this worked just fine with the previous version.
That version is what you would have gotten had you downloaded the
utility yesterday.
