You might want to try an industrial supply company like here:
https://www.mcmaster.com/#pedal-switches/=1b1gd3p I have used one of the "steel" types for many years. The "iron types" are really rugged but require, in my opinion, to much force to operate. Mine dates back to original use with my Heath SB400. Untried but they have a PB pendant type too. They are my go-to company for many items. Located here in NJ and I can place a 6PM order and since I'm in the one day UPS zone get it the next afternoon. 73, Bob K2TK ex KN2TKR (1956) & K2TKR On 1/8/2018 4:25 AM, John Marvin wrote: > Thanks for this idea. Although I haven't tried them, DX Engineering sells several.

Seconded. I've been using a Gem V2 for six years with my K3 with no issues.

Usually most guitar players have an abundance of "stomp boxes". Of
course select one that doesn't have all the electronics and controls included inside. I checked with a local music and instrument store and asked about one that was perhaps junk just to get the base. The fellow asked what and why I wanted one. I told him and he handed me a used one, needed cleaning and a paint job, and said, just change the connector to what ever your need. Nothing better than a Free Of Charge stomp box. I'm happy. 73 Bob, K4TAX On 1/8/2018 2:19 PM, Rose wrote: > Music equipment stores usually have a variety of foot switches ... > > 73! > > Ken - K0PP > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > > Tattoo parlor foot pedals are rugged and cheap. I've been using foot switches since 1957, with my Viking II and 75A-4.
The first one was somewhat crude. IMHO, the Linemaster series of industrial-strength footswitches is the best. Very rugged, but responds to a light touch. Mine gets used a LOT, and I expect it to outlast me! https://www.amazon.com/Linemaster-Clipper-Switch-Electrical-Momentary/dp/B002P55Y36 VE7XF ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [hidden email] |
I built my own with a pushbutton switch that had what seemed
like a good feel from a ham fest. It consists of two wedges of wood to set the angle of the pedal, a base of 1/4" plywood with the switched recessed so just the top is above the base, and a piece of 3/16" plywood hinged to push the switch with the foot. The hinge is a piece of gaffer's tape -- duct tape would also work. I may have to replace the tape sometime, but it has held up well for about 4 years. After I used it for a while, I added a "dead pedel" on the right side. This lets me rest my foot on the dead pedal and just twist the foot it to transmit. I would look for a dead pedal feature in any commercial pedal, since holding my foot up caused sore muscles after a while. Some of the musician pedals can be switched between push-on, release-off and push to toggle on/off. If you talk for a long time, this option might be attractive and a substitute for a dead pedal. 73 Bill AE6JV ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Bill Frantz | Concurrency is hard. 12 out | Periwinkle (408)356-8506 | 10 programmers get it wrong. | 16345 Englewood Ave www.pwpconsult.com | - Jeff Frantz | Los Gatos, CA 95032 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [hidden email] |
