Howdy Gang:
I wonder if any of y'all have purchased the new Palm Pico Paddle and mounting kit for the KX3 and, if so, how do you like the little device?? Appreciate any info/feedback and this paddle and bracket. 73, Joe W2KJ I QRP, therefore I am ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

The paddle and bracket are PERFECT for the KX3! The fit and finish is beautiful, and I love being able to slide them to any angle. You do leave them attached at all times, but they fold up against the frame nicely. I won't have any difficulty leaving them permanently attached :). I haven't tweaked the paddle adjustments yet, but I expect they're just as adjustable as their larger sibs. -kb7psg On Mon, 17 Jun 2013, Joseph Trombino, Jr wrote: > Howdy Gang: > > I wonder if any of y'all have purchased the new Palm Pico Paddle and mounting kit for the KX3 and, if so, how do you like the little device?? > > Appreciate any info/feedback and this paddle and bracket. > > 73, Joe W2KJ > I QRP, therefore I am > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

.. A question: Can the Pico+mounting bracket still be used in any position with the KX3 legs fully extended?
I don't think so ? |

The Pico Paddles' bracket for the KX3 is manufactured at such an angle so as to allow complete range of motion of the paddles parallel to the operating surface with the KX3 legs fully extended. The paddles can be moved continuously through 180 degrees of travel from one side to the other. The vertical angle of the paddles is fixed by the angle of the bend of the mounting bracket. Hope this helps.

Thanks Bill..
As I understand it, the mounting bracket is made of 2 parts at a angle less than 90 deg..?? If, so, if I operate with the KX3 without extending the legs, the Pico would become non parallel to the surface of operation, but it will rise toward the operator? 73 de Pierre VE2PID KX3 s/n 190. |

Joe,
Could you share some URL with us where that Pico Paddle can be purchased or seen. 73, Igor UA9CDC ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joseph Trombino, Jr" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Sent: Tuesday, June 18, 2013 12:39 AM Subject: [Elecraft] Palm Pico paddle for the KX3 > Howdy Gang: > > I wonder if any of y'all have purchased the new Palm Pico Paddle and > mounting kit for the KX3 and, if so, how do you like the little device?? > > Appreciate any info/feedback and this paddle and bracket. > > 73, Joe W2KJ > I QRP, therefore I am > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Joe, all,
I've had a Pico Paddle in my possession for about two weeks now and I cannot fault it ass a key. It has a firm positive action and a gentle, 'soft' stop that makes it a pleasure to use. The only aspect of the paddle and the KX3 kit that is less than perfect is the attachment to the KX3 using countersunk screws whereas the Elecraft paddles have knurled screws. It's a small point but worth mentioning that installation is more fiddly than the KXPD3. The quick-release mount base has two neodyme magnets which allow it to be magnetically attached to a FT-817 but, of course, the enclosure of the KX3 is aluminium so the screw-on mounting kit is required. A small piece of tin plate or similar allows the paddle to be secured otherwise. Using the tilt-up legs of the KX3 the angle is perfect, of course. I have the KXPD3 paddles and the Pico Paddle and enjoy using the Palm Radio Pico Paddle most: that's ultimate, absolute joy as opposed to just absolute joy making Morse with the KXPD3. That is, it's close. Being able to use the Pico Paddle with other radios might just tilt the balance though. Hope this helps. Correct. The bracket is a slightly V shaped piece of metal. One side attaches to the KXPD3 with screws, the other is bolted to a standard (Pico) Palm Paddle quick-mount. If the feet are not extended, the bracket rises towards the operator. -kb7psg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRrv43aQxaE On Mon, 17 Jun 2013, Pierre wrote: > Thanks Bill.. > > As I understand it, the mounting bracket is made of 2 parts at a angle less > than 90 deg..?? > If, so, if I operate with the KX3 without extending the legs, the Pico would > become non parallel to the surface of operation, but it will rise toward the > operator? > > 73 de Pierre VE2PID KX3 s/n 190. > > > > > -- > View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/Palm-Pico-paddle-for-the-KX3-tp7575392p7575410.html > Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
