What size Pelican case do folks use for the KX-1?? I seem to remember it is
the 1060, but its internal height is barely more than the KX-1 itself. Does this provide enough clearance to protect the tuning knob? For people using this case - do you put any foam beneath the KX-1, or just let it sit on the bottom of the case? Thanks. 73, Mike Cizek W3MC [hidden email] FOC # 1739 HSC # 1849 _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. It's a small version of their larger cases, without a clear body. Plenty of room for extras, and still smaller than a lunch box and not too heavy. It has a foam pad in the lid, and I pull it out to store quick ref cards, sheet or two of copy paper, etc. behind it. A big reason for my choosing it this model was to protect the encoder. I have 2 of Pelican's smaller clear ("Micro") cases, and have been quite happy with them. Over the years, they've held a variety of items, from my HT, GPS receivers, Sirius satellite receiver and more. Great products. 73, Mike KW1ND Karns, Tennessee _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. I used the 1060, with no foam on the bottom. The KX1 is a pretty
robust little box already; the Pelican foam insert holds it very securely, and there's little chance of the encoder knob hitting the top cover. My setup is much like N2HTT's: http://www.n2htt.net/KX1/ Except that I use 26g teflon-coated wire, which bundles up a lot smaller. 73 de chris K6DBG _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. I use the 1120. http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/ppike/kx1.html
I place two pieces of the pulled out foam on top of the rig to keep it from moving vertically - foam on bottom too. I forgot to take "real" measurements at Dayton .
Any beta & or factory people able to share the actual dimensions from the front of the BIG tuning knob....( assuming that is the most forward part)... to the back of the fans...or the back of a right angle connector on one of the coax connectors... whichever is the rear most.... And how tall is the 4" height ?? after measuring with the feet ???? must be planning ahead, since there will be a shortage of K3 Pelican cases after July.... bill _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
