The power-on banner in my KX3 comes on correctly, but it also reappears from time-to-time.
I suspected my power supply, but have tried other power sources and the same thing happens. It usually happens at times when the bands are extra noisy. Any ideas? Dave,
That would indicate that the power is being momentarily disconnected from your KX3. Wiggle the power connector and see if that induces it. If so, there could be one of two things wrong (maybe more, but these 2 occur to me). 1) You are using a 2.5mm power plug - the proper size is 2.1mm. 2) If you have an earlier KX3, the power jack may not have been glued to the board and one or more of the connections to the solder pads may have broken loose. (I don't know the serial number when the gluing was started). 73, Don W3FPR On 6/11/2013 3:09 PM, Dave and Alice Billheimer wrote: > The power-on banner in my KX3 comes on correctly, but it also reappears from time-to-time. > I suspected my power supply, but have tried other power sources and the same thing happens. > It usually happens at times when the bands are extra noisy. I've experienced this a few times when in CW or a data mode mode with
decoding enabled. The banner is shown at the beginning of the decoded text and clears as the text scrolls, so I figured the banner was simply prepended to the same buffer/stream that the decoder writes to. It only happens once per startup. -- Jesper Henriksen On Tue, Jun 11, 2013 at 03:09:24PM -0400, Dave and Alice Billheimer wrote: > The power-on banner in my KX3 comes on correctly, but it also reappears from time-to-time. > I suspected my power supply, but have tried other power sources and the same thing happens. > It usually happens at times when the bands are extra noisy.
