When using the Spectrogram CW Filter adjustment system described by N0SS, I am having trouble getting my K2 to remember my BFO adjustment. For example, my FIL3 which I set to 400 Hz is not centered on my 650 Hz marker. If I tap Band-, I get "bf3 074". I move the BFO to center the filer and get "bf3 076". Everything looks is centered like I want.
BUT when I tap XFil, to save this new setting and move to FIL4, my K2 does not enter my new setting for FIL3 into memory. When I review the four filter settings, FIL3 still appears to be too low and if I go through the CAL FIL sequence again, I get the old BFO setting of "bf3 074". What am I missing here? And how do I get the K2 to save my adjustment? Don's instructions are pretty clear, but they are not working for me. Roger,
You do have the counter probe plugged into TP2 do you not? You did not mention any INFO 230 messages, and there will be one if you forget the probe, but otherwise the symptoms you report is what results if the probe is not connected - i.e. nothing is stored in EEPROM. The K2 firmware should sense that the BFO has been changed, and it would seem like that is not happening. You can judge whether the K2 is trying to store a new value by the time interval between tapping the XFIL button and the K2 actually moving to FL4 - if it is a very short time (count of 1 or less), the firmware did not detect that the setting needed to be changed, but if the time interval is longer (count of 5 or more), then it tried to store a new value. Try changing the mode (or go to CWr) instead of going to FL4 after you have set the new BFO value and see if the behavior is the same - it should store new info if the BFO was changed when you change filters, change modes or change sidebands or when exiting the menu. If all else fails, you may want to try a Master Reset - but be certain to write down all your filter settings and other menu settings before you do that. <G> It seems I have been reading about an inordinate number of these 'strange happenings' lately - perhaps it has something to do with a full moon near a sunspot minimum <G> 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > When using the Spectrogram CW Filter adjustment system described > by N0SS, I am having trouble getting my K2 to remember my BFO > adjustment. Roger:
Is it possible that you don't have the FCTR probe plugged into TP2? That'll do it! 73, Tom N0SS At 03:38 PM 3/19/2006, you wrote: >When using the Spectrogram CW Filter adjustment system described by >N0SS, I am having trouble getting my K2 to remember my BFO >adjustment.
