Re: QRP Pwr/VSWR meter

Don Brown-4
Hi

I use a OHR WM-2 qrp wattmeter

http://www.mtechnologies.com/ohr/wattmeter.htm<http://www.mtechnologies.com/ohr/wattmeter.htm>

It is available as a kit or assembled and I have found it to be accurate and reliable. I use it just about all the time to align all the Elecraft products. OHR also has a nice 100 watt dummy load that I use when aligning the KPA100.

Just what Don said.  I have both, I use both, and I love both.  The two kits
are a snap
to build and Marshall supports his products VERY well.

Check out my E-Meter at www.telepostinc.com/n8lp.html

I am getting very close to offering a kit version of it. A comprehensive
article will also be published in QEX in the near future if want to
homebrew your own. They accepted my manuscript a few weeks ago, but
haven't given me the publication date yet. A prototype of the E-Meter is
at a friend's shop as we speak for verification of results... I have a
pretty good arsenal of test equipment, but not nearly as impressive as his.

The meter will display power accurately from about -17 dBm (.02
milliwatt) to+63 dBm (2000W) in four selectable scales, and SWR
accurately down to +10 dBm (10 milliwatt)... this is about the
theoretical limit one can measure SWR of a decent antenna due to
external signals typically present on the antenna.

Ten Tec's 1202 Power and SWR meter kit is a best buy as it can be calibrated
for QRP and for QRO, (two scales).  It also has two pickups, one for HF and
one for VHF/ UHF.  Although spec'd only up to 2m, I found it useable for
nulls at 440 as well.  You can easily change the calibration to suit your
operating power.  I even wrote this up for QRP ARCI, Oct. 1996, in their
"Quarterly".

Check QRP-ARCI for back issues.
