I know Chip. Why do I think the 'CW' will easily beat the cell phone message
system...

And in other news, would you believe "broadband over gas line"?

Ya can't make this stuff up...

The Guinness World's record for their stock sentence is 57.75 seconds. That
works out to a leisurely 24 wpm. I don't see any contest here as long as
Chip can send better than 24 wpm.

Here's the Guinness sentence required for record attempts:

"The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are
the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom
attack a human."

No abbreviations or "predictive" words can be used. They have to send it
letter by letter.

It will be interesting to see what text they use on Leno.

for interested Dayton attendees

I will be demo'ing my E-Meter digital wide dynamic range power/SWR meter
at the SteppIR booth at Dayton this year. The E-Meter will be of
interest to Elecrafters bcause it provides accurate power readings from
10mw to 2500W, and accurate SWR readings from 50mw to 2500W.  The demo
will include my K2 as the power source, and a Bird 4410A wattmeter for
comparison.

The E-Meter will be available in kit or assembled form, and has also
been accepted for publication in an upcoming issue of QEX for you
homebrewers. The prototype unit can be seen on my website with details,
www.telepostinc.com/n8lp.html. The final version will be  offered in an
all metal case closely resembling the EC1 case used for the K1.

It is autoranging, and has very good accuracy. The meter has a built-in
frequency counter which allows precise in-the-field calibration at up to
154 frequency/power combinations, with extrapolation between cal points.
I plan to offer a calibrator mini-kit as well. Assembled units will be
delivered calibrated on all bands from 160-6m, and at 10W, 100W and 1000W.

The E-Meter has a serial port for remote or PC control, and comes with a
freeware "virtual" control panel for Windows.

For more info, contact me off list.

73,
Larry N8LP
