Here's my story:
1.) April 28 - Ordered the K3 (kit, 50% down) at the opening bell on Saturday morning. (I ogled the K3 on Friday afternoon / evening, but thought I should "sleep on it" for a few hours.) 2.) November 5 - My credit card was debited, very early in the morning, for the invoice balance. - Late afternoon I received a shipping notice and UPS tracking number via email. - An hour or so later I received the "This is to inform you that your recent order has been shipped. . ." email from Elecraft. 3.) November 6 - According to the tracking scans the coveted white box arrived in Fresno at 6:52 A, and was "Out for delivery" at 8:22 A. - At 3:17 P the UPS delivery guy nearly scared me spitless by pounding on the laundry door right next to my shack! I had left the overhead garage door open so he would know I was home, but wasn't expecting him to bring it inside the garage! - Began unpacking at 3:21 P. - Dug down into the box that contained the small manila envelope labeled, "SN tag enclosed." Well I'll be et fer a tater!! Would you look at the grin on that ole boy! SERIAL NUMBER 00034!!! - Completely unpacked the box and ID-ed all the major stuff. - 4:35 P, began assembly. - Needed a break from the excitement, so took the cats for a short walk, began cooking dinner for my hard-working XYL, and then went back for a second look at the precious pile! - 6:15 P, famished wife arrived, served made-from-scratch sweet 'n sour pork. - 7:00 P, back to assembly. - 9:15 P, arrived at the point of initial power up. All resistance checks A-OK. Since I don't have a single PP connecter in the house -- other than the set in the kit -- I decided to call it a day. - 9:25 P, Picking up the sweet little K3 by the left side carrying handle, I proudly showed it to my darling wife. She looked at it and said, "Is THAT $3000 worth? Darn! And I just made her sweet 'n sour pork!! On a more serious note, tomorrow I'll forward a few of my observations / reactions to the K3 kit building process, and give a progress update. 73, Jim - WS6X Oh yes, thanks, Elecraft, for a very well-crafted product. _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Hi Jim,
Thanks for the play-by-play (it's making me hungry), and don't forget to load the latest K3 MCU firmware once you have it up and running. See my earlier e-mail. 73, Wayne N6KR WS6X wrote: > Here's my story: ... > --- http://www.elecraft.com _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
